TuMi’s Care Initiative (TCI) and Liberia’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Celebrate World Environment Day with Climate Quiz for Students

In celebration of World Environment Day, TuMi’s Care Initiative (TCI), in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), organized a dynamic three-day inter-school quizzing competition focused on raising awareness about climate change and environmental sustainability.

The event brought together students from 15 high schools across Montserrado County, offering them an exciting platform to deepen their understanding of environmental issues, showcase their knowledge, and engage in meaningful conversations about climate action.

Held under the global theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution,” and a local theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution”, the competition served as a powerful tool to promote environmental literacy among Liberia’s youth, future leaders and decision-makers in the fight against plastic pollutions.

TCI believes that education is the foundation of action, only by us equipping young people with the right knowledge and critical thinking skills can we achieve the goal of ending plastics pollution in Liberia.

The EPA also highlighted the importance of youth involvement in climate action, noting that the effects of climate change, rising sea levels, deforestation, erratic weather patterns, and biodiversity loss, are increasingly impacting Liberia’s environment and livelihoods.

Through these initiatives, TCI promotes her commitment to empowering students through education and advocacy while supporting national and global goals for climate resilience and environmental protection.

As Liberia joins the world in commemorating World Environment Day, the success of this initiative stands as a reminder that climate change education must be central to our national development agenda, and that every student empowered today is a climate champion tomorrow.
