In a continued effort to promote menstrual health and dignity for all, TuMi’s Care Initiative (TCI) and Ministry of Gender Donate Sanitary Pads to Marginalized Youth, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, carried out a special donation exercise targeting three underserved institutions: Liberia School of the Deaf, Liberia School of the Blind, and the Calvary Mission Orphanage Home.
The donation included hundreds of sanitary pads distributed to adolescent girls and young women in these communities, many of whom face systemic barriers to accessing basic menstrual hygiene products. This initiative is part of TCI’s ongoing commitment to inclusive health care and gender equity, especially for young women and girls living with disabilities or in vulnerable settings.

According to TuMi’s Care Initiative (TCI) team lead, “Menstrual hygiene is not a privilege, it is a right,”. “No girl should miss school, suffer in silence, or feel ashamed simply because she doesn’t have access to menstrual products.”
The Ministry of Gender joined TCI in emphasizing the need for inclusive policies and support systems that address the unique challenges of girls in special institutions and orphanages. The partners emphasized that menstrual hygiene is essential to health, education, and overall dignity, and that targeted interventions such as this donation play an important role in empowering young women and breaking the silence around menstruation.
Through this initiative, TCI and the Ministry of Gender continue to champion the vision of a Liberia where every girl can manage her period safely, confidently, and with pride, regardless of her background or abilities.
